I am a posh rat (half-blood) Sinti Romany, aka ethnically 'Gypsy'. I was born in the United States and am a second-generation American.

I'm a literary aestheticist, which means I don't think literature, writing or art is obliged to make social commentary, deliver a message, implicit or explicit, help you be a better person, sort out your mental problems, make you healthier, teach you not to want pretty poison apples or contribute to social change. (If it does those things, great; but I don't think that is its primary purpose)... if art is potentially dangerous to people who do not have their shit together, what, may I ask you, is not? Paedophiles use childrens clothing catalogs as wank fodder and religious fanatics use scripture to justify killing, torturing and enslaving people. There is no telling what someone will do with your words or images, no matter how good or carefully chosen they are. This is my personal space, which is not intended to be "socially responsible" nor do I take care to send the "right messages" when writing in it. If you tell me that something I've written here is not socially responsible I am liable to shrug and move on, because that isn't the purpose of this space.

There are certain kinds of religious beliefs of which I am not a fan. If you think you should follow your religion, great; if you think everyone else should follow your religion whether or not they believe in it, I will not be impressed. And if you're the sort of person who thinks that G-d makes people who are gay or trans and then punishes them for that, or hides dinosaur bones in the dirt to test us, I do not want to know. If you hold beliefs like these, I may indeed come to think less of you.

I am 100% opposed to racism, sexism, anti-semitism (obviously), homophobia and any and all other forms of bigotry based on things people do not have choices about. I do not use the term "ally" because I have found that some expect people who use this term to subscribe to a certain kind of ideology. If you are serious about combating various -isms in the real world, we will probably get on famously. If you are the sort of person who considers people racist if they wear pith helmets with a steampunk costume, or one who considers people sexist if they don't think anyone who ever said "bitch" is a woman-hater or use feminism as an excuse to refuse to recognize (and celebrate) the distinct psychological, physiological and sociological differences between the sexes... we may not get along so well.

There are a few subjects that I feel very passionately about, and won't tolerate debate on. To name a few, animal abuse or neglect, and animal cruelty. Humans generally have the capacity to improve or change their situation, whereas animals have no defense and no voice.

Our family consists of myself, my husband, an Australian Frilled Dragon, three Bearded Dragons, a Green Iguana, a Leopard Gecko, a Brazilian Rainbow Boa, a Pomeranian and a Brussels Griffon. We don't call them 'pets' - they are to us what children are to most adults, and we take their care very seriously. Mess with my family, you mess with me.

I have been told I am one fierce bitch. I am very independent and will take no bullshit from anyone. I will go to extremes to stand up for what I believe in and the ones I love, even if it creates controversy or puts me directly in harm's way.
